Bibeli Mimo Torun

Words: John Burton, Sr., Youth’s Monitor in Verse, 1803.

Bibeli mimo torun
Owon isura temi!
'Wo ti n wi bi mo ti ri,
'Wo ti n so bi mo ti wa.

'Wo nko mi, bi mo sina,
'Wo n f'ife Oluwa han;
'Wo lo si n to ese mi,
'Wo lo n dare at'ebi.

'Wo ni ma tu wa ninu,
Ninu wahala aye,
'Wo n ko ni, nipa 'gbagbo
Pe a le segun iku.

'Wo lo n so tayo ti n bo,
Ati 'parun elese;
Bibeli mimo torun,
Owon isura temi.

Holy Bible, Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came;
Mine to teach me what I am.

Mine to chide me when I rove;
Mine to show a Savior’s love;
Mine thou art to guide and guard;
Mine to punish or reward.

Mine to comfort in distress;
Suffering in this wilderness;
Mine to show, by living faith,
Man can triumph over death.

Mine to tell of joys to come,
And the rebel sinner’s doom;
O thou holy Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine.
