Nigba Tidanwo Yi Mi Ka

Author Unknown
Nigba tidanwo yi mi ka
Tidamu aye mu mi
Ti Esu wa bi ore mi
Lati wa iparun mi.

Oluwa jo ma sai pe mi
B'O ti p'Adam' n'nu ogba
"Pe nibo lo wa elese?"

Nigba t'Esu mu 'tanje re
Gbe mi g'or'oke aye,
To ni ki n teriba foun
Kohun aye je temi,

N'gba bilisi fi tulasi
Fe mu mi yase Re da
To duro gangan lehin mi
Nileri pe ko si nkan,

Nigba ti mo ba fe topa
Damoran o'n fe 'nu mi
Tokan mi n se kilakilo,
Ti n ko tutu, nko gbona,

Nigba ti ko salabaro,
Tolutunu si jina,
Ti 'banuje ja mi gbongbon
Bi iyo ninu okun,

Nigba bi aja ti ko gbo
Fere ti olode mo,
Sonu saginju aye lo
Lain' ireti ipada,

Nigbati igbekele mi
Di togun atorisa,
Togede di adura mi,
Tofo di ajisa mi,

When strong temptations surround me
And the world's tempest face me,
And Satan came like a friend,
Pushing strong for me to fall.

Saviour please fail not to call me
As thou didst Adam in Eden;
Saying where art thou o sinner,
That I may be saved from ruin.

When Satan comes with his deceits,
Showing heights of worldly fame,
For my heart to bow and worship,
Just to gain worldly acclaim.

When the devil comes compelling,
Forcing me Thy will to shun
At my right hand stands resisting,
Falsely cries it shall be well

When I'm bent to go my own way,
To do all my feel and will,
When my heart and mind keep panting
Neither hot and yet not cold

When all friends and neighbours fail me
And all comforts fly away,
Deep sorrows come overpowering;
Like salt grains in tempest seas.

As a dog that no more heareth,
The hunter's whistles and calls
I get lost in the world's wilderness,
Hoping never to return.

When my hope and my confidence,
Get reposed in mere idols;
When incantations become prayers,
And I go chanting around.
